- Khanal, Bonas (1)
User Group/Event: North Texas Silverlight UG (5)
Recorded On: 11/8/2010
Abstract: As developers it’s always exciting to explore new frameworks; while with Silverlight we are in our 4th release we are now seeing more tools being released to assist us in our development. Among these tools are Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) frameworks. So, without further ado we are excited to announce that our next meeting will be an MVVM Smack Down. In this smack down your presenters will be demoing a subset of features from each of 4 MVVM frameworks. The 4 frame works will be: Prism 4 with MEF – Tim Jones, Caliburn Micro – Justin Weinberg, MVVM Light – Bonas Khanal, and Jounce – David Yancey.

Hands-on MVVM
- Perry, Michael (1)
User Group/Event: Ft. Worth .NET UG (6)
Recorded On: 10/19/2010
Abstract: As people apply data binding to real applications, patterns have emerged. One of the most prevalent is Model-View-ViewModel. In truth, MVVM is not just one pattern. It is a collection if interrelated patterns. Each person has a different idea of what MVVM actually looks like. This is my opinion. We will walk through the emergence of MVVM in a WPF application. The goal of this exercise is to understand why it is good to follow these patterns. We are going to start with direct data binding. We won’t add any code until we need it. When we find that things don’t work, we’ll add code to make them work. When things start to get messy, we will refactor to clean them up.

- Gaudioso, Victor (2)
- Moore, Bill (1)
User Group/Event: Silverlightpalooza (5)
Recorded On: 9/26/2010
Abstract: We are very excited to have Victor Gaudioso join us in DFW for a two day seminar in Silverlight techniques with Blend and VS2010. The exact structure of the training and focus points will depend on how attendees answer a few questions when they sign up. The basic outline for both days will contain the following: Blend IDE, Objects and Timelines, Storyboards, Drawing, Event Handling, Sample Data, Data binding, Visual State Manager, and New Features of Silverlight 4. Nuts and Bolts in XAML Part 2
- Blasberg, Vince (5)
User Group/Event: Dallas XAML UG (5)
Recorded On: 8/3/2010
Abstract: In this talk Vince will review some samples to give more insight into the powerful XAML-based technologies of WPF & Silverlight. We started with the PresentationCore and PresentationLayers that exist by asking the question, what's the difference between a Label and a Textblock. We moved into the importance of dependency properties. We covered two examples of the ICommand implementation then coded a new Silverlight app using ICommand with a very simple MVVM layer.
